Agraria is planned to be an attractive low-energy community that will serve as a model for similar development across the country as a response to Peak Oil. The organic gardens, low-energy building techniques and other aspects of the neighborhood-community design will be strong educational tools and even sources of income for some of the neighborhood' residents.

Boulder Valley Relocalization (BVR), an outpost of Post Carbon Institute, capitalized on the momentum of months of effort to hold a major relocalization conference and expo in Boulder at the University of Colorado. On January 18th, 2007, the City of Portland s Peak Oil Task Force released its draft report for public comment. The Task Force findings illustrate the enormous economic and social vulnerabilities and opportunities that could result as fuel supplies cease to be abundant and inexpensive. The magnitude of this issue led the Task Force to explore far-reaching solutions. Our lead recommendation is that Portland cut its oil and natural gas use in half over the next 25 years.
